{"id":1855,"date":"2025-08-03T02:12:59","date_gmt":"2025-08-03T02:12:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lawgicaladda.in\/en\/?p=1855"},"modified":"2025-08-03T02:13:01","modified_gmt":"2025-08-03T02:13:01","slug":"shocking-political-scandal-prajwal-revanna-convicted-sentenced-to-life-imprisonment-for-heinous-crime","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lawgicaladda.in\/en\/shocking-political-scandal-prajwal-revanna-convicted-sentenced-to-life-imprisonment-for-heinous-crime\/","title":{"rendered":"Shocking Political Scandal: Prajwal Revanna Convicted, Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Heinous Crime"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>The order was passed by Additional City Civil and Session Judge Sri Santosh Gajanan Bhat<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former Janta Dal (Secular MP) Prajwal Revanna to life imprisonment in one of four rape and sexual assault case against him for repeatedly raping his maid and recording video of act, involving a 47\u201148-year-old domestic worker on <strong>1 August 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The woman alleged that the Prajwall Revanna assaulted her at the family&#8217;s Gannikada Farmhouse in Hussan and Revanna&#8217;s Bengaluru Residence in 2021 during COVID-lockdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She didn&#8217;t speak out about the incident as Prajwal Recorded visuals of assaults and threatened to leak them. Afterword&#8217;s She quit her job, kept quiet until reports emerged of the visuals of such sexual assault being leaked<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>According to reports, over 2,900 videos depicting the sexual assault of several women were circulated online, including on social media.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This prompted her to file a complaint last year. Four such cases were eventually registered against Revanna.He was arrested upon his return to India on May 31, 2024 and has\u00a0been in jail since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Court found him guilty of the following offences under IPC and IT Act:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Section 376(2)(n)<\/strong>\u00a0of IPC [repeatedly raping a woman] &#8211; Life imprisonment till death and \u20b95 lakh;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Section 354A<\/strong>\u00a0of IPC (outraging modesty) &#8211; 3 years&#8217; imprisonment and \u20b925k;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Section 354B\u00a0<\/strong>of IPC (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe) &#8211; 7 years&#8217; imprisonment and \u20b950k;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Section 354C<\/strong>\u00a0of IPC (voyeurism) &#8211; 3 years&#8217; imprisonment \u20b925k;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Section 506<\/strong>\u00a0of IPC (criminal intimidation) &#8211; 2 years&#8217; imprisonment and \u20b910k;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Section 201<\/strong>\u00a0of IPC (causing the disappearance of evidence of a crime) &#8211; 3 years imprisonment and \u20b920k;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Section<strong>\u00a066E<\/strong>\u00a0of IT Act- 3 years&#8217; imprisonment and \u20b925k.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>On 2 August 2025 Additional City and Session Judge Sri Santosh Gajanan Bhat Sentenced Prajwal Revanna to life imprisonment and imposed a total fine 11 lakh .<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, Prajwal was also charged with the offence under Section 66E of the Information Technology Act, 2008, which punishes acts that violate the privacy of a person, such as circulating private images without consent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During hearing of sentencing Prajwal questioned motive of the allegation aginst him &amp; said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&#8220;<em>When I was serving my term [as Member of Parliament], not a single complaint was brought forward. It is only during the elections that these allegations have suddenly surfaced<\/em>,&#8221;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>\u201cI am a meritorious student, a mechanical engineering graduate. I grew up in politics early, this as costs me.
