There are nearly 26 crore students in the school system, but only 4 crore opt to pursue higher education. The Government of India is undertaking several measures to eradicate this issue.  M Jagadesh Kumar, the current chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), announced that the commission has set a target to increase the gross higher education enrollment ratio to 50% by the year 2035.

The Indian government also aims to bring numerous reforms to the education system through the NEP as per the year 2020 (New Education Policy). One such scheme introduced by the UGC is the ABC scheme.

Understanding the Academic Bank of Credit (ABC ID)

The Academic Bank of Credit was established by the UGC. It is a system that helps students accumulate all the academic credits that they have achieved from various recognized institutions. ABC is a repository system that allows seamless credit accumulation and transfers across different educational institutions. Students can later redeem these credits while obtaining a degree.

But the government has been taking timely measures to solve them all.

You can get an academic bank of credit ID easily by following the below steps:

• Visit the official website of the academic bank credit ID, i.e., https://www.abc.gov.in/.
• Click on the My Account option on the right-hand side of the page. Select the student option there.

• If you already possess a Digilocker ABC ID card, you can straightaway login with your user ID, mobile number, or documents like an Aadhar card or PAN card and your pin. 
• If you don’t have a Digilocker ABC ID card, you can choose the new user option below. 

• After entering the credentials and generating the OTP, you will have to verify the Aadhar card details and enter the OTP received on the registered Aadhar card mobile number.
